polyglot software package provides chess engine protocol adaptor, connects UCI engines to xboard, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install polyglot
polyglot is installed in your system.
Make ensure the polyglot package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep polyglot *
You will get with polyglot package name, version, architecture and description in a table
